The official website for the Magi: Sinbad no Bōken (Magi: Adventure of Sinbad) anime began streaming a television spot for the original anime series last Friday. The ad proclaims that this is the "legitimate prologue" that will cover the beginning of Sinbad's quest to take on Baal's Dungeon.

Tomokazu Sugita will reprise his role as Dragul (Drakon), and Akira Ishida will also return as Yunan. Joining the cast are Katsuyuki Konishi (Silver Spoon, Kill la Kill, Hetalia) as Badr, Yōko Hikasa (Nobunaga The Fool, Infinite Stratos 2, High School DxD) as Esra, and Ai Kayano (Valvrave the Liberator, anohana, Oreshura) as Serendine. Yoshikazu Miyao (Inazuma Eleven, S.A) will direct the anime, and Taku Kishimoto (Bunny Drop,Silver Spoon) will handle the script. Souichirou Sako (Go! Go! 575) will design the characters, and Tomohiro Ōkubo will compose the music. Lay-duce (Go! Go! 575) is producing the animation.

This adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka and Yoshifumi Ōtera's manga will come with the special edition of the third compiled volume, which will ship in Japan on May 16.

A 70-page "prototype" of the manga with art by Ōtera was bundled with the first Blu-ray Disc of the anime in 2012. The manga's prologue also ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday later that year. After beginning a full serialization in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, it moved to the publisher's web comic site "Ura Sunday" last year.
