The official website for the first anime film in Bandai's Aikatsu! shōjo idol franchise began streaming an early teaser trailer on Friday. The trailer proclaims that a "film adaptation has finally been green-lit for this winter!".
Sumire Morohoshi narrates the trailer as her lead character Ichigo Hoshimiya, "The curtain rises on the legendary stage with best friends!" The story revolves around Ichigo, who was just a normal middle school student until she suddenly got involved in the world of idols.
Bandai announced the orginal "national idol audition" digital card game for young girls and its anime adaptation in 2012. Sunrise animated the first series, and is also animating the second series, which is currently airing on TV Tokyo.
The film will open in December, and this teaser trailer will begin playing in theaters on Saturday.
